As frequent travelers, one of our favorite places to visit is Taiwan. Aside from having friends and family in the Formosa, it is a great place to take kids of all ages, great for vegetarians (we are not, but we do enjoy a good veggy dish when we can get it), great for book lovers, food lovers and so much more… but most importantly, only during the Winter-time. 🙂
When do we typically travel to Taiwan?
We typically only go from November to February, which coincides with wintertime in Taiwan. Taiwan is a tropical island that experiences a lot of heat and humidity during the other seasons. During wintertime, you can experience some light rainfall, only about 10 min here and 10 min there, and comfortably cool weather, ranging from 68F (lows) to 73F (lows). Another reason we like to go during this season is… less mosquitoes!
How do I get accommodations in Taiwan?
In Taipei City, most of the hotel accommodations are generally for 2 people, with a handful of hotels able to accommodate up to 3 adults (think 1 double bed and 1 single bed). For a group of 4 or more, you would need to book multiple hotel rooms or opt for Airbnb options instead.
Outside of Taipei City, you might have better luck as space isn’t as tight as in Taipei City.
General advice is to always book in advance (especially during an election year) and nearby to the metro/public transportation hubs. Hotels and Airbnb hosts can generally manage enough English communication to handle your stay.
