Christmas in the park is an annual tradition for the city of San Jose, dating back to the 1950s.
Every year since those early days, downtown San Jose would be transformed into an impressive grove of hundreds and hundreds of Christmas trees, which are decorated by local organizations. Throughout these groves are impressive Christmas displays of the North Pole, Santa, elves, reindeer and more.
The event also features a large ice skating rink, a food area along with booths selling Christmas light-up toys. In the center boasts an enormous Christmas tree, a great spot for photo ops. As you walk through the displays, snow-machines would blow out snow-like bubbles as you walk underneath.
On either side of the central event area, there are games and carnival rides for the family.
However, this year 2020, due to the pandemic, the non-profit organization that puts on this amazing event, pivoted to producing a drive-through event. And to our surprise, despite this being their first time, there is no hint of it from the level of sophistication of this event.
